Paraiba designs created original jewelry pieces in Bethesda, Maryland, for nearly twenty years and now is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Paraiba Designs was founded by Maria Emilia Salgado who leads the company and serves as it’s chief designer. Paraiba Designs offers custom pieces, designed specifically to enhance your personal style.
The name of Paraiba Designs was inspired by the rare beauty and uniqueness of Paraiba Tourmalines.
Tourmalines have been used as gem material for over 2000 years and have been discovered in a multitude of colors. Still, in 1989, a gem prospector by the name of Heitor Dimas Barbosa, discovered the Paraiba Tourmaline in a small mountain range in the Brazilian State of Paraiba. The Paraiba Tourmaline is considered the most beautiful variety of tourmaline ever found.
Much like it’s namesake stone, Paraiba Designs is a rarity among jewelry designers. Even though there are many jewelry makers, it is still possible to find one that stands out among the rest, a company that surpasses it’s competitors in beauty and quality.
