The Aquamarine is the Birthstone for the Month of March and is the blue member of the Beryl family along with well known Emerald (green) and less known Morganite (peach) and Heliodor (yellow). The name Aquamarine comes from Latin and means "water of the sea" and for that reason, it has been used by sailors as a talisman for centuries and it is believed to protect the wearer from drowning.

Aquamarines can be found in all continents but the largest supplier is Brazil.

Aquamarine is considered a stone of courage and it is used to reduce stress and calm the mind.

Jewelry has been used throughout the ages . There are records of jewels dating from 100,00o years ago. The first jewelry pieces were a gift of Nature combined with a little ingenuity from man and were made with stones, shells, bone and seeds and strung with leather or grasses. Precious metals, provided also by Nature, were incorporated a little later. Jewelry is not meant to be practical. It’s sole purpose of jewelry is to adorn and decorate. Even since antiquity, people wore jewelry to dress up and feel attractive. As much as things have changed through the ages, jewelry seems to be the constant. Chances are that our fascination with jewelry will endure because we will always have the desire to look and feel good.
